When numerous people have been harmed in a similar way, class action lawsuits are often the best way to affect change. Miner, Barnhill & Galland attorneys have extensive experience handling class action and other complex litigation, and have been certified by trial courts as class counsel in environmental, civil rights, employment discrimination, antitrust and securities cases.
Class Action
MBG has a national reputation for its class action practice. The firm’s lawyers have served as counsel for plaintiff-classes in state and federal courts in cases involving employment discrimination, civil rights abuses, pollution and environmental matters, predatory lending, employee benefits, sexual harassment, wage and hour abuses, anti-trust violations and securities violations, among others. If you — and others — have been similarly harmed, whether by discrimination, employment practice, products or services, pollution, or in any other way, the lawyers at MBG have the experience and wherewithal to help.
Antitrust Litigation
MBG has handled a number of large-scale antitrust class actions under federal and state antitrust laws. For example, it has been counsel in cases against a real estate brokers’ association for price fixing, the vitamin industry and the manufacturers of laser eye surgery equipment. The firm has brought suits using state antitrust statutes to recover large-scale relief for indirect purchasers who are not covered by federal antitrust laws. The firm’s lawyers were also lead counsel in a lawsuit achieving a substantial recovery on behalf of a class of more than 100,000 attorneys who had purchased the country’s largest bar review course at prices allegedly inflated by antitrust violations.
Securities Litigation
Securities laws are designed to prohibit deceit, misrepresentation and other fraud in the sales of securities. These laws require that investors receive financial and other significant information before the securities are offered for sale. MBG lawyers have served as lead counsel for plaintiffs in a number of federal securities class actions, including in the Pacific Lumber facet of the Drexel Burnham Lambert class action litigation, which resulted in a settlement in excess of $140 million. Another securities lawsuit in which the firm was involved successfully applied the federal securities laws to land sales transactions, obtaining massive relief for a class of purchasers of land in four failed Colorado recreational real estate developments.
