Congratulations to MBG attorneys Scott Entin, Deanna Pihos, and Roisin-Duffy Gideon on receiving the 2023 Trial Lawyer Excellence Award for achieving the Highest Reported Illinois Verdict or Settlement for an individual plaintiff as a result of the $363 million dollar they secured as part of the trial team in the Willowbrook Ethylene Oxide Litigation. This marks the 12th year of the event hosted by the Jury Verdict Reporter and Law Bulletin Media, which is an invitation-only program for trial lawyers and judges. The Plaintiff, Susan Kamuda, demonstrated at trial that the Defendants failed to control ethylene oxide emissions at their Willowbrook plant, and that the Defendants’ failure was a cause of Ms. Kamuda’s cancer. The $363 million jury verdict was the highest single-plaintiff verdict in Illinois history.
