Sarah Siskind is nominated for 2020 Trial Lawyer of the Year Award for her work, with Miner Barnhill & Galland’s Scott Entin and the firm’s litigation team, in Freeman v. Grain Processing Corporation. The Public Justice Foundation presents the award each year to the attorney or legal team that made the most outstanding contribution to the public interest through precedent-setting or otherwise extraordinary litigation concluded within the last year. Freeman v. GPC was an Iowa law nuisance, negligence and trespass class action against a corn wet mill in Muscatine, Iowa. After 7 years litigating the Freeman case up and back twice to the Iowa Supreme Court, making new law on federal preemption and nuisance class certification issues, Siskind and Entin secured a $51 million settlement on the eve of trial.
