Class action alleges gas-fired turbines powering AI data centers have subjected Southaven and Horn Lake residents to constant industrial noise and vibrations.
Miner, Barnhill & Galland, P.C., along with co-counsel Weitz & Luxenberg P.C. and Waltzer, Wiygul, Garside & Wild, LLC, has filed a class action lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi against X.AI Corp., Space Exploration Technologies Corp., and MZX Tech LLC.
The lawsuit was brought on behalf of Southaven and Horn Lake residents who allege that gas-fired turbines operating at a power-generation site in Southaven, Mississippi, have created constant and intrusive industrial noise and vibrations that interfere with the use and enjoyment of their homes and property.
According to the complaint, the turbines are being used to power nearby artificial intelligence data centers associated with xAI. Plaintiffs allege that the Southaven facility began operating in or around August 2025, and that the number of gas-fired turbines on site has grown from 3 to 57 in less than a year. The complaint alleges that the resulting noise includes roaring, rumbling, humming, whining, and low-frequency vibrations that can be heard and felt in nearby residential communities 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The lawsuit asserts claims for private nuisance, public nuisance, negligence, negligence per se, and negligent infliction of emotional distress. Plaintiffs seek relief for themselves and a proposed class of affected residents, including damages for loss of use and enjoyment of property, nuisance-level physical impacts, emotional distress, and diminution in property value, as well as injunctive relief to abate the alleged nuisance.
