On September 3, 2025, Miner Barnhill & Galland, P.C., together with Democracy Forward, filed an Amicus Brief in Rhode Island v. Trump, currently pending in the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Together with co-counsel, MBG represents a coalition of library, museum, and cultural organizations, as well as the nation’s largest labor union of cultural workers. On behalf of this coalition, the Amicus Brief urges the Court to uphold an injunction against the enforcement of a March 14, 2025 Executive Order that effectively dismantles the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and, if enforced, will bring to a halt the important work that IMLS does supporting, connecting, and funding libraries, museums, and cultural institutions across the country.
The Amicus Brief is available here.
MBG attorneys Roisin Duffy-Gideon and Deanna Pihos worked on this matter.
