Jeffrey Cummings began his legal career in 1987 as a law clerk for the Honorable Ann Claire Williams. During his clerkship, Jeff assisted Judge Williams with the entire range of her civil and criminal cases. In 1989, he became an associate with Miner, Barnhill & Galland. He became a shareholder at the firm in 1995 and has served as the firm’s co-managing partner. Across his 23 years in private practice, Jeff has represented a variety of clients — both plaintiffs and defendants — in a broad range of civil cases. He has tried cases before juries, judges, arbitrators and hearing officers, and has argued fourteen cases before the federal and state appellate courts. Jeff has also served as an Administrative Hearing Officer for the City of Chicago’s Commission on Human Relations where he has presided over approximately fifteen trials concerning claims of discrimination and retaliation, and has issued written findings of fact and conclusions of law.
