Ryan Miller joined Miner, Barnhill & Galland in 2018 following a judicial clerkship in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. He is dedicated to advancing economic and social justice for marginalized individuals and groups, including representing plaintiffs in wage and hour, environmental, and civil rights cases.

Recently, Ryan successfully litigated a multi-state wage-and-hour class action against Humana on behalf of 221 nurses, which settled for $11.2 million.  During the three years Ryan litigated the case, he successfully defended against Humana’s attempt to decertify the case, drafted and successfully argued discovery motions before the court, deposed corporate officials, and defended class members in depositions.

Ryan also works to protect people and their property from corporate polluters in environmental class actions.  He currently represents residents of 22 Pennsylvania communities in a nuisance and negligence class action against one of the nation’s largest steel manufacturers.  He previously helped secure payments for a class of over 10,000 residents bringing nuisance, negligence, and trespass claims against an Iowa corn wet mill following a $51.5 million settlement.

Ryan graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2017. During law school, Ryan helped litigate antitrust violations with the U.S. Department of Justice, worked in a hybrid legal and policy research capacity for the U.S. Senate Finance Committee, recovered SSI benefits for indigent claimants, and expunged Philadelphians’ criminal records.  Before law school, Ryan worked for the Wisconsin Legislature after graduating from the University of Wisconsin with a B.A. in history and political science and studying international development in Kenya.
