Alternative Dispute Resolution/Neutral

George F. Galland, Jr., a partner in the firm, has an active practice as a neutral, including service as an arbitrator, mediator, and settlement monitor. As an arbitrator, Mr. Galland has served both as neutral and party-appointed arbitrator in employment matters. As a mediator, Mr. Galland has successfully helped parties negotiate settlements of both class action and individual matters. As a settlement monitor, Mr. Galland has served, by consent of the parties, the Neutral Monitor to oversee compliance with consent decrees entered as a result of settlements of three of the largest pattern-and-practice sexual harassment cases ever brought : EEOC v. Mitsubishi Motor Manufacturing of America, Inc., Warnell and Rapier v. Ford Motor Co., and EEOC v. Dial Corporation. In this capacity, Mr. Galland was responsible for deciding claims against a large damage fund, for hearing appeals from company decisions on sexual harassment claims, for assuring that companies are complying with detailed procedures for preventing sexual and racial harassment, and for facilitating the difficult transition in large manufacturing facilites from a climate of litigation to a climate of respect and productivity.
