Farmworker Litigation

In recent years the firm has developed a large employment practice in California, particularly representing migrant farm workers and packinghouse employees. The firm's attorneys, led by Nancy Maldonado and Bob Libman, have successfully litigated a number of large-scale class actions in California, including:

  • Sandoval v. Saticoy Lemon Association, a sex discrimination class action in a lemon packing plant, tried and won in 1991.
  • Quezada v. Dole Food Co and Guzman v. Oxnard Lemon Association , two packinghouse sex discrimination class actions settled in 1993 and 1994, respectively
  • Hernandez v. Leminor, Inc., a class action for unpaid overtime, tried and won in 1994

Hernandez v. Nabisco, a sex discrimination class action involving access to bathrooms in a manufacturing plant, settled in 1995.
